ABOUT THE CANADA’S DINOSAUR PARK SANCTUARY
Canada’s Only Registered Non-Profit Reptile Sanctuary. Canada’s Dinosaur Park was established in 1998. In 2001, the sanctuary became a training facility for all Canadian Federal Wildlife Officers as well as several other government agencies. In 2009, the sanctuary became a not-for-profit organization and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) registered charity* in order to gain public support. The sanctuary focuses its efforts on the protection of the world’s reptile species. Today Canada’s Dinosaur Park is the leader in its field – actively participating in internationally regulated conservation programs and is primarily devoted to education.
We provide visitors with the opportunity to view over 200 reptiles in climate-controlled conditions. Each enclosure presents reptiles in their natural setting and features specific information about each species.
These animals act as ambassadors for their species, allowing visitors to safely get close to reptiles that they would not likely see in the wild. We work passionately to protect all reptile species and maintain a large number of animals that are not on display; so that our animals can be rotated on and off display in order to reduce stress.
All of our reptiles are rescued animals from the pet trade and many others are endangered species that have been seized by Federal Wildlife Officers. These are animals that cannot be returned to the wild for various reasons. Some of our endangered animals are in regulated breeding programs to help save species from extinction (SSP).
Special Note: We do not breed, buy or sell animals. We are a sanctuary for rescued reptiles, not a breeding facility.
We work passionately to protect all reptile species and maintain a large number of animals that are not on display; so that our animals can be rotated on and off display in order to reduce stress.
We will continue to provide excellent care for our current adoptions and we caution people to think twice before acquiring a reptile pet. We are not against people having pets; however, we strongly encourage them to properly research the care, maintenance, and life span of the species they wish to acquire.

Fund Raising
Canada’s Dinosaur Park is a registered charity and to survive they must be creative and raise funds during the winter months when they are not open to the public. In 2019 during March Break a fundraising dinosaur exhibit in Peterborough at the Morrow Building attracted large crowds. Over 30 dinosaurs were displayed and the event featured a dinosaur maze and an obstacle course for children. A food court offered a wide range of gourmet meals and treats. Face painting, archery, and an art contest added to the family fun. A smaller exhibit of dinosaurs was presented in Windsor Ontario at the Devonshire Mall at the end of March Break. The Indian River Reptile And Dinosaur Park leased the dinosaurs to the shopping centre and managed the event. It was a major attraction in Western Ontario for 10 days in March.
Since our facility no longer does traveling live animal shows, we need to be creative to raise funds. Any ideas you have for events that could use our dinosaur ambassadors please let us know.
You may also want to use our dinosaurs to help support your own favourite charity.
Just talk to us and we can work out a sensible rental arrangement.
